DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last sits at C$1.3375, a touch lower on the day after
losing more than 100 pips Friday, as firmer oil prices & a solid Canadian labour
report lent support to CAD. Meanwhile, U.S. labour mkt data was also strong, but
its impact was offset by cautious comments from Fed Chair Powell, which weighed
on USD.
- Initial support is located at C$1.3335, which represents the 50-DMA, ahead of
the 2.0% 10-DMA envelope at C$1.3305. On the topside, initial focus falls on
Friday's peak/21-DMA at C$1.3496/97.
- Canadian spotlight this week falls on the BoC policy rate decision due
Wednesday, with >80% chance of no change priced in, and only one of those
surveyed looking for a hike from the BoC. Elsewhere, Canadian housing starts
data is also due Wednesday, while building permits figures come out Thursday.
