DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last trades at C$1.3145, having registered a modest
downtick in Asia-Pac dealing.
- The releases of Chinese Caixin M'fing PMI & Australian trade balance had an
impact on the risk-tracking currencies, supporting the space, sending USD/CAD
slightly lower on the day, with the USD broadly weaker on the session as the DXY
pulled back from its recent highs.
- The rate's downside move was limited by heavy oil prices, which kept a lid on
the CAD.
- Bears need a move through the initial support at C$1.3110 towards the 100-DMA
at C$1.3078 to retain momentum. Bulls keep an eye on yesterday's high at
C$1.3165 before challenging the key C$1.3200 level.
- Focus this week falls on Canadian labour mkt data due Friday & remarks by
BoC's Schembri & Lane later today.
