DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last trades at C$1.3149, virtually unchanged on the day,
after slipping 30 pips Friday.
- The pair reached its highest levels since July last Weds, but eased off since,
as crude prices started moving away from multi-month lows lending support to
CAD.
- USD/CAD garnered additional downside momentum Friday as Fed's Clarida & Harker
expressed cautious stances towards further rate hikes, which immediately weighed
on the greenback.
- Bears eye the 21-DMA at C$1.3140 and a break below would open up yesterday's
low of C$1.3127. Conversely, bulls seek to return above C$1.3187, where the rate
peaked Friday. A break above would give a green light for jumping back onto the
C$1.32 handle.
- Key Canadian economic releases this week are CPI & retail sales figures due
Friday. Elsewhere, BoC's Wilkins will make two appearances Tuesday.
