USD/IDR Tracks Just Below Recent Highs, Yesterday Saw Largest Net Equity Outflow Since 2005

USD/IDR sits just below session highs, last around 15220. Earlier highs were just above 15230, which is a level we couldn't sustain gains beyond earlier this week. We remain just above the simple 200-day MA for now. The 1 month NDF is sitting near 15240, a touch below recent highs around 15260.

  • We saw a very large net equity outflow from offshore investors yesterday, just under $1.2bn, the largest single daily outflow since end May 2005. Local equities have been largely tracking sideways in recent trade, the JCI under the 6900 level.
  • Outflows have also been present in the local bond space so far this week (-$159.4mn to Wednesday).
  • The data calendar is quiet until next Tuesday, when July trade data prints.
