USD/JPY is up from earlier lows, the pair last near 155.60/65. Earlier lows were at 155.37. We still sit +0.30% firmer in yen terms for the session.

  • Comments from the BoJ's Nakamura have coincided with USD/JPY recovering some ground higher. The BoJ board member stating: BASED ON CURRENT DATA, IT IS APPROPRIATE TO KEEP POLICY INTACT FOR TIME BEING - [RTRS].
  • Other comments were also cautious around the consumption outlook and sustainably achieving the 2% inflation target.
  • Still Nakamura was the dovish dissenter at the March policy meeting (voting against ending NIRP). This may temper the market reaction to today's comments.
