USD Pushes Higher, AUD and NZD Underperforming

FOREX

The USD has firmed in recent dealings, which appears to have coincided with US Tsys erasing earlier gains. All parts of the US yield curve have now ticked higher from a yield stand point. The BBDXY is up to 1277.80, up a little under 0.15%. We are just below Oct 19 highs.

  • AUD/USD is the weakest performer, making fresh lows under 0.6280, off 0.50%. Local yields have mostly unwound an earlier dip after comments from RBA Governor Bullock. Still, equity sentiment remains weak within the region, US futures are also close to session lows.
  • NZD/USD is back near 0.5780, the second worst performer. EUR/USD is sub 1.0560. Yen is outperforming, USD/JPY last near 150.20, little changed for the session.
  • In EM Asia, USD/CNH is ticking higher, but only modestly, last near 7.3320. 1 month USD/KRW has climbed further to 1354, amid a weaker local equity backdrop.
