USD Takes The Lead

The greenback has taken the lead in the G10 basket, followed by the yen, as a retreat in e-minis inspired fresh movement across the space. Market activity could be linked to earlier comments from U.S. President Trump surrounding the TikTok-Oracle deal. DXY trades through yesterday's highs as we type, which may have helped pressure EUR, in turn pushing EUR/JPY to fresh multi-week lows.

  • A stronger USD has dragged spot USD/CNH above the CNH6.7500 figure, as the rate has ticked away from its worst levels since 2019.
  • Central bank activity picks up today, with monetary policy decisions from the BoJ, BoE, SARB, Bank Indonesia and Taiwan's CBC. In addition, central bank speaker slate features RBA's Kohler, ECB's Rehn, Muller & de Guindos. On the data front, Australian labour market report, final EZ CPI and U.S. initial jobless claims, housing starts and Philly Fed Survey.
