USD Offered

FOREX

The USD has started the week with an offered tone. The DXY index is back sub 105.00, down by 0.15% from NY closing levels. This move looks a continuation of the late NY session trend of USD weakness from Friday.

  • NOK has been the standout, up around 0.70% versus to the 9.9250 region. NZD/USD is also up over 0.3%, to be above 0.6210. EUR/USD is back to 1.0435/40, +0.20% on the day. AUD/USD is lagging a touch, +0.10% to 0.6220.
  • Lower US equity futures, off by 0.4% at this stage, aren't having a major impact on sentiment, although USD/JPY tested below 135.00 again, before supported emerged (last 135.05).
  • Liquidity could be an issue given tonight's US Independence Day holiday, with US Cash Tsys closed.
  • CNH has lagged, following weekend news around a property company default and rising Covid case numbers. USD/CNH is back above 6.7000.
