USDCAD Again Hits Highs In London Trade Before Pulling Back

  • USDCAD has for the second day running pushed to new recent highs in London hours before pulling back, today with 1.3672 after yesterday’s 1.3670 for levels last seen in March.
  • A renewed push higher could test resistance at 1.3708 (1.0% 10-dma envelope) and 1.3723 (trendline resistance drawn from the Oct 13, 2022 high).
  • Today sees the BoC decision at 1000ET where there should be focus on what aspects of mixed data the BoC puts weight on, but we also see important data for labor productivity in Q2 after its recent torrid trend.
  • This decision lands along with a heavy $1.59B of option expiry at 1.3600 and $495m at 1.3625 for the NY cut, with spot currently 1.3642 for a level pushing the pair back near overbought territory for a level pushing the pair back near overbought territory..
