  • USDCAD at ~1.32 has lifted off earlier lows of 1.3185 but consolidates yesterday’s further shift lower to late July/early Aug levels.
  • The technical trend continues to point south, with next key support at 1.3093 (Jul 14 low), with further moves in the near-term likely linked to broader risk sentiment with a particularly light CAD docket until the new year.
  • Going against the speed to which this down trend could continue is the 14-day RSI at 24, its lowest (or most oversold) since May 2021.
  • The Loonie more generally is neutral on a long-term valuation basis, 0.3% higher than its 5-year moving average and 0.4% lower than its 10-year moving average in real effective terms.
