KOREAN WON
KOREAN WON: - USDKRW opened as low as 1122.0 in line with the broad-based dollar
weakness seen on Friday on the back of dovish comments by US Fed members, but
the pair is clawing back early losses to trade at 1124.0 currently. - Hawkish
comments by US VP Pence over the weekend have seen the dollar regain some
footing in early trading, even as US-Korea yield spreads continue to edge down
from their cycle highs.
- The BOK noted in a report on Sunday that EMs face growing uncertainty from the
US-China trade conflict and US rate hikes, which could be seen as a signal that
the bank will hold off from hiking at their month-end meeting.
- There are no data releases out of Korea today but PPI, household credit, and
trade data are due out later this week.
