VdL To Outline Green Deal Industrial Plan To Counter US IRA

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is set to hold a press conference shortly outlining the Commission's proposed Green Deal Industrial Plan, intended to counter the US' Inflation Reduction Act and boost the EU's green tech sector. Even before the plan has been published, major intra-EU divisions have emerged on issues such as state aid rules and how the EU intends to fund the project. • Earlier this week, Euractiv reported that a leaked doc had shown that the Commission would, "...like to propose targets for industrial capacity, lower regulatory burdens to roll out new technologies and allow more national subsidies and tax credits for clean technologies, among other measures."
• The 17-page doc seen by Euractiv focuses on a number of areas including regulation, state aid/subsidies, the issue of how to fund projects (debt issuance vs. already existing funds), skills promotion, and trade/supply chains.
