A clear majority of Senate Rs opposed McConnell's $1 trill proposal in July. So he abandoned it. A much larger contingent will oppose a Mnuchin-brokered $1.8tr~ deal with Pelosi. That's been the math problem all along. So if Mnuchin announces a deal with Pelosi, his biggest problem is the Senate - Rs, not Ds. I'm not certain all 47 of Dem caucus vote yes. If they do, Mnuchin would need 13 Rs to vote yes. That's not a sure thing."
