Week Ahead: Focus On BCB Minutes, QIR And Brazil Mid-Month Inflation

  • In the week ahead, attention will be on Brazil, where the BCB will publish the minutes to the recent Copom meeting as well as its latest quarterly inflation report. Brazil mid-month IPCA inflation data will also be released. Elsewhere, Chile publishes macro data for the month of February, while the BCCh will release its latest traders survey, ahead of its early April monetary policy meeting.
    • Argentina will publish Q4 current account data on Monday. The deficit was $6.1bn in Q3.
    • On Tuesday, the BCB will release the minutes to this week’s monetary policy meeting, when the Copom cut by 50bp and tweaked its forward guidance. It will also publish its weekly Focus survey. Brazil IPCA-15 inflation data for the first half of March will also cross, with consensus for a further decline of inflation to 4.12% y/y, from 4.49% previously. Argentina will release January economic activity data.
    • BCCh will publish its latest traders survey on Wednesday, ahead of the April 2 MPC meeting. Mexico February trade and Colombia February unemployment data will be released as well.
    • The BCB’s quarterly inflation report will be published on Thursday, followed by Chile macro data for February, including retail sales, IP, unemployment and copper production.
