Weekly German Gas Consumption Up to 21% Below Normal

Weekly data in Germany shows industrial gas consumption still 25% below the 2018-2021 normal and but households now just 17% below normal, up from 54% at the start of November according to THE data via Bundesnetzagentur.

  • Cooler weather in NW Europe over the last week has seen an increase in heating demand after the warm start to the winter helped ease supply concerns. Overall German consumption was 21% below normal with the regulator aiming for a 20% reduction this winter.
  • The German regulator earlier said that this winter would be ‘tense’ if storage levels fell below 40-55% by Feb 1 calling it a ‘critical’ situation. German storage was at 98.95% on Nov 23.
