What to Watch:

ENERGY
  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 18:00BST. Last week saw a continuation of the steady increase in rig counts with oil up 6 to 605 on gas up 2 to 157. Further increases are expected again this week. US production of gas and oil are slowly following this upward trend with gas reaching record highs over last weekend and EIA data showing oil above 12mbpd after holding just below earlier this year.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitment of traders reports will be released after the close today at 18:30BST and 15:30EST. Managed money net longs have been generally falling in recent weeks with global oil demand concerns adding downward pressure to the market and with liquidity still falling.
