ENERGY: What to Watch: OPEC & IEA Reports, Oil Stocks, WTI Opt Expiry & US CPI

  • The IEA are due to release the updated Oil Market Report at 10:00 CET and OPEC Monthly Oil Market Report is due for release today (at 13:45 CET last month) with focus on the global market balance and future demand growth forecasts.
  • The latest Genscape European ARA crude inventories will be released today at 09:00GMT. Stocks last week were below normal at 49.8mbbl.
  • The EIA weekly petroleum inventory data for the week ending Jan. 10 is due for release today at 10:30ET (15:30GMT). A Bloomberg survey expects a 0.67mbbl draw in U.S. crude stocks, a 2.22mbbl build in gasoline and a 0.96mbbl build in distillates while refinery utilisation fell 0.97 percentage points.
  • The February 25 WTI options expire against the 14:30ET futures close price today.
  • The US CPI data is due at 08:30ET. Consensus sees core CPI inflation decelerating slightly to between 0.2 to 0.3% M/M in December.
