What to Watch: US Data, Fed Speak, Eco Summit Kick Off Tonight

  • Treasury futures trading modestly weaker as they extend overnight lows in the last few minutes, curves a little steeper after yesterday's bull flattening (2Y10Y currently +1.105 at -77.027).
  • Flurry of economic data this morning at 0830ET includes weekly jobless claims, Durable/Capital Goods orders and Chicago Fed Nat Activity Index. Kansas City Fed Mfg Activity at 1100ET.
  • The main focus is the start of the Jackson Hole economic summit hosted by KC Fed begins with a private dinner Thursday evening and features speeches/panels Friday and Saturday, is "Structural Shifts in the Global Economy."
  • The full schedule will be released Thursday at 2000ET, which will include the various academic paper presentations. Chair Powell’s speech “Economic Outlook” scheduled for 1005ET Friday, ECB’s Lagarde speaking 5 hours later.
  • Today's scheduled Fed speakers include Philly Fed President Harker interview on CNBC at 1000ET, Boston Fed Collins interview on Yahoo Finance at 1115ET.
  • US Treasury wraps up the week's supply with $80B 4W, $70B 8W Bills at 1130ET, $8B 30Y TIPS Reopen (912810TP3) at 1300ET.
