White House NSA Sullivan To Meet With Ukraine Sceptic Counterparts

UKRAINE

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will travel to Denmark this weekend to meet officials from countries which remain neutral on the war in Ukraine.

  • Politico reports that the event, which is taking place at Kyiv’s request, is designed “to discuss basic principles of peace and Ukraine," with, "a variety of countries” as western officials fear not enough is being done to press ambivalent countries on taking a firmer line with Russia.
  • The Financial Times reports that, “national security advisers or political directors” from India, Brazil, and South Africa will be in attendance.
  • FT: "The diplomatic offensive comes as Ukrainian leaders have acknowledged their highly-touted counteroffensive is progressing more slowly than hoped. Officials from Turkey and possibly China could also attend."
  • Politico notes, “India is importing large amounts of Russian crude. Brazil fears the West’s hardline stance against Moscow risks a wider conflict. South Africa wants the war to end soonest because it’s harming African economies.”
