STOCKS
STOCKS: With China & Japan still out on holiday, focus fell on Australia's ASX
200 & Hong Kong's Hang Seng.
- The Hang Seng ran out of steam ahead of psychological resistance at 30,000,
with the pullback likely aided by a cautious headline re: the U.S.-China trade
discussions sources to a Global Times opinion piece that did the rounds in U.S.
hours on Thursday.
- The ASX 200 trades ~0.2% higher, with the heavyweight energy and financial
sectors providing the only notable drags on the index. The latter was hindered
by Macquarie's cautious outlook, issued alongside the bank's latest quarterly
earnings report.
- U.S. equity index futures sit a touch higher at writing.
- S&P 500 futures +8, DJIA futures +55, NASDAQ 100 futures +31.
