Wnorowski Flags Concern With Wage Growth & Inflation Expectations

NBP

Wires carry comments from NBP's Henryk Wnorowski, who told BIZNES24 that he is concerned about the current pace of wage growth and inflation expectations.

  • "Considering everything that happened recently, what concerns me personally, are two things. I am concerned about wages, which keep rising, nominal and real wages. And I am concerned about inflation expectations. These are the two main factors which might result in worse scenarios for the second half of the year coming to fruition."
  • This comes after Statistics Poland reported that headline inflation accelerated less than expected to +2.5% Y/Y in May from +2.4% in April. Wnorowski commented that it was "a very good piece of information, we are within the target." However, "this doesn't change our task, which is about sustainability."
