Won Reverses Course

USD/KRW moves into positive territory, last up 1.15 at 1106.90. The won reversing post export data strength seen at the open. Equities in the region have given up earlier gains and moved into negative territory which is weighing on the won. The greenback also seeing some strength as rising US yields begets USD flows.

  • As a note, new coronavirus cases fell to 332 in the past 24 hours, far lower than the circa 600 figure seen last week. South Korea is due to start vaccinating around 275,000 workers at nursing homes and health facilities from Feb 26.
