Work to Start on Turkish Gas Hub This Year: Tass Source

A touted Turkish gas hub receiving supplies from Russia will start work within a year according to a Tass source in the Turkish Energy Ministry. The source was unclear on when it would be operational.

  • “The launch of the gas hub should take place within a year. The work is now underway to settle the legal issues of the project. It is still difficult to say exactly when it will be fully completed," the source said.
  • Both Putin and Erdogan have both publicly announced their desire to create the Turkish gas hub that would receive the gas volumes no longer heading to Europe via the Nord Stream pipelines.
  • Europe has shown a reluctance to set-up any infrastructure to tap into this plan due to the unreliability of Russia as a gas supplier.
