YTD Budget Deficit Widens to HUF2.896trln

HUNGARY

Hungary's year-to-date budget deficit widened to HUF2.896trln in June from -HUF2.763trln in May, according to the Hungarian Finance Ministry.

  • Alone in the month of June, the deficit was HUF 132.7bln, the narrowest June gap in eight years, the ministry said.
  • The ministry noted that expenditures related to the regulated utilities price scheme for households came to HUF969.2bln by the end of June.
  • "In spite of extraordinary expenditures, the government is significantly improving the budget balance compared to a year earlier," it added.
  • The full-year deficit target is HUF3.4trln. The deficit reached HUF4.8trln in 2022.
