China’s new 400k b/d Yulong refinery is expected to start test operating its second CDU late this month, Reuters sources report. 

  • The second 200k b/d CDU is set to start-up around March 23, according to Reuters sources.
  • FGE had previously reported a March/April start for the second CDU.
  • A 1.5m tpa ethylene unit, one of two at the site, started up in December last year.
  • Other secondary units, including a reformer, will be brought online from May, Reuters reports.
  • Yulong has stepped up purchases to prepare for the ramp-up.
  • Bloomberg reported last week that Yulong bought almost 4m bbl of Angolan crude for February loading, the largest purchase since the plant began operating last September.
