Zelensky Addresses Japanese Diet; French Parl't This Afternoon

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continuing his long line of addresses to the parliaments of major Western-aligned nations today. Presently he is addressing the Japanese Diet, and this afternoon at 1500CET (1000ET, 1400GMT) he is set to speak to the French Parliament.

• Zelensky continuing his trend of tailoring speech to speak to each parliament and nation's history/interests.
• Speaking to the British House of Commons he sought to echo Sir Winston Churchill. Speaking to the US Congress he raised Mt. Rushmore, Pearl Harbour, 9/11 and talked of Martin Luther King III. In speaking to the German Bundestag he talked of the Berlin Wall.
• In his address to the Japanese Diet, Zelensky has raised the prospect of Russian launching nuclear attacks, Ukraine's experience with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and sending a strong message to "future aggressors". All three points will have strong resonance with Japanese lawmakers from the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Fukishima nuclear disaster, and Japan's long-standing concerns about potential Chinese expansionism in Asia.
• In an interveiw with CNN last night, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov refused to rule out Russia using nuclear weapons "if it is an existential threat for our country, then it can be."
