Informal Foreign Ministers Meeting Scheduled For 14-15 May

NATO

NATO spox Oana Lungescu tweets: "An informal meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers will be held in Berlin on 14-15 May, chaired by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg."

  • This will be the first in-person meeting of NATO member ministers since the previous meeting of foreign affairs ministers, which took place in Brussels on 6-7 April.
  • The war in Ukraine will undoubtedly dominate proceedings at the meeting. There could also be further news on the plans and views of the gov'ts of Sweden and Finland with regards to their potential accession to NATO member status. Should either or both Nordic nations join the alliance it will be seen as a blow to Russian security and a major backfiring of President Putin's plans for creating a 'greater Russia'.
