Executive Summary:
- Former President Donald Trump had another mixed day at midterm primaries yesterday.
- Rumours continue to circulate that the Biden administration is considering a new legislative approach to curbing energy prices. Biden will send letters to oil and gas executives today declaring that he is "prepared to use all reasonable and appropriate Federal Government tools and emergency authorities to increase refinery capacity and output in the near term."
- The White House has confirmed that Biden will travel to Saudi Arabia for a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman. The White House and State Department have been working overtime clarifying that the trip does not contravene the principles of the administration.
- Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will convene the third meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at NATO Headquarters in Brussels today.
- The United States, Canada, and partners and have announced the creation of the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) to "bolster critical mineral supply chains."
- The Supreme Court will release another batch of opinions today. Observers have been watching the court closely for signs of a ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the case in which a ruling is set to roll back the constitutional right to an abortion provided by Roe vs Wade.
- Secretary of State Antony Blinken will deliver remarks with Colombian President Iván Duque Márquez at the White House today as the election of an anti-establishment president is set to shake up the relationship with America's closest ally in the region.
- Poll of the Day: Low satisfaction leads to a loss of seats in midterms, according to a Gallup poll.
