Free AccessJanuary 6 Probe Continues Tomorrow
The next installment of the January 6 Committee probe into the unrest on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, takes place tomorrow at 13:00 ET 18:00 BST and will feature testimony from Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and his deputy Gabriel Sterling, two men who were central to the alleged plot to overturn the 2020 election result.
- The hearing will be livestreamed on the Committee website: https://january6th.house.gov/legislation/hearings/...
- Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has said ahead of the hearing: “We’ll show evidence of the president’s involvement in this scheme. We’ll also, again, show evidence about what his own lawyers came to think about this scheme.”
- Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), one of the two Republicans on the committee: “I certainly think the president is guilty of knowing what he did, seditious conspiracy, being involved in these, you know, kind of different segments of pressuring the [Department of Justice], vice president, et cetera.”
- Kinzinger continued: “Obviously, you know, we’re not a criminal charges committee. So I want to be careful and specifically using that language, but I think what we’re presenting before the American people certainly would rise to a level of criminal involvement by a president...”
- Former President Donald Trump told supporters in Nashville at his first public appearance since the hearings began that the events were merely "a simple protest that got out of hand."
- A three-minute recap of the previous hearing can be watched here: https://twitter.com/January6thCmte/status/15378764...
