Albanese Most Popular Western Leader After Strong First Month

AUSTRALIA

According to Morning Consult, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is now the most popular Western leader following a well recived first month in office.

  • Albanese has a net approval of +27, 7 percent higher than Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson who has seen a significant drop in approval following a near collapse of the Swedish government this month, and uncertainty over NATO membership.
  • Albanese has already had a proactive period in office: He travelled to Tokyo the day after being elected for the Quadrilateral dialogue with Japan, the United States and India before heading to Jakarta for trade talks with Indonesian Prime Minister Joko Widodo.
  • This month, he will attend the NATO security summit in Madrid and has plans to visit Paris for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron to mend relations after the acrimonious scrapping of a submarine deal.
  • Albanese will then attend the Pacific Islands Forum in mid-July in order to counter the growing influence of China in the region.
