12- and 24-Month Inflation Estimates Decline in Latest CBRT Survey

  • The central bank released its latest survey of market participants:
    • Inflation estimate next 12 months 39.09% (Prior: 41.23%)
    • Inflation estimate next 24 months 23.69% (Prior: 24.82%)
    • Year-end inflation estimate 42.04%
    • Central bank’s one-week repo rate seen at 45% in three months (Prior: 43.76%)
    • 2024 GDP growth Est: 3.4% (Prior: 3.3%)
  • Pimco has been wading into Turkey’s bond market, betting that President Erdogan’s commitment to a sweeping economic overhaul has set the country on a path to regaining its investment grade credit rating, the FT reported. Pimco was “very constructive” on domestic Turkish assets, the head of Pimco’s emerging markets team said, adding that such an upgrade could happen “within the next five years if everything goes to plan.”
