Latest opinion polling from YouGov shows all three frontrunners to become next leader of the governing centre-right Conservative party and replace Liz Truss as PM - Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak, and Penny Mordaunt - would lose to centre-left Labour Party leader in a general election if polling reflected the final result.

  • YouGov head-to-head polling: Starmer 43% v Sunak 34%; Starmer 48% v Johnson 35%; Starmer 43% v Mordaunt 28%
  • Would the following do a good job or a bad job as PM?: Sunak: 43% good, 40% bad; Johnson: 34% good, 56% bad; Mordaunt: 26% good, 35% bad
  • YouGov Westminster voting intention: Labour 56% (+5), Conservative 19% (-4), Liberal Democrat 10% (+1), ReformUK 5% (+2), Green 4% (-3). This is the largest Labour lead (37%) ever recorded in a YouGov poll.
