4 CPI Reports Before September's Decision

FED

On today's comments by Cleveland Fed Pres Mester about seeing whether there is yet "compelling evidence that inflation is moving down" or has "failed to moderate" before deciding on whether to adjust the pace of rate hikes at the September 20-21 FOMC - and "I will need to see several months of sustained downward monthly readings of inflation before I conclude that inflation has peaked" - there are 4 CPI reports between now and then: Jun 10th, Jul 13th, Aug 10th, Sep 13th.

  • Note that the CPI dates in June and September are both in pre-FOMC blackout periods, so no official takes on those data points before the decisions.
