45% of French Refining Capacity Still Offline as Bulk of Strikes Ends

REFINING

Around 45% or 500,000 bpd of France’s oil refining capacity remains offline according to Reuters calculations as refineries coming back from strikes take time to restart. Only TotalEnergies' 117,000 bpd Feyzin refinery remains on strike. Five TotalEnergies and 2 Exxon sites were on strike at the peak.

• Exxon Mobil said in mid-October that a restart at its refineries could take 2-3 weeks, one of which has been slightly delayed by a fire (see earlier Fos-sur-Mer post).

• The refinery fuel units at Exxon's 240,000 bpd Port Jerome-Gravenchon refinery are now back in operation, according to the firm.

• The strike at TotalEnergies’ 240,000 barrel per day Gonfreville refinery has ended but the refinery is yet to start.

• Strike action continues at TotalEnergies' 117,000 bpd Feyzin oil refinery in France, the source added.
