A$ Down Further As Equities Weaken

AUDUSD is down further today to around 0.6688 on a slightly risk averse tone. It is off the intraday low of 0.6682, which was still above Friday’s low of 0.6678. The USD index is 0.1% lower.

  • Aussie is down against the major crosses. AUDJPY is off the intraday low of 89.48 and is currently around 89.76. AUDNZD down 0.1% to 1.0888, around the intraday low. Aussie is also down 0.1% to 0.6086 versus the euro and to 0.5374 versus the pound.
  • Equity markets are mixed across the APAC region with the CSI down 0.7%, ASX -0.1% but the Nikkei up 0.3%. S&P e-minis are 0.2% lower. Oil prices have almost unwound Friday’s gains with WTI down 0.9% to $77.28/bbl. Iron ore is trading between $104-106/t.
  • The German Ifo survey for April is released later and also the US Chicago and Dallas Fed Indices. Tomorrow Australia and NZ are closed for the ANZAC Day holiday.
