JGBS: A sedate morning for JGB futures, with little in the way of local news, as
tensions surrounding the Korean peninsula and heightened worry re: the COVID-19
situation in Beijing provided a defensive feel to broader markets, allowing the
contract to consolidate its overnight gains and hold a tight range, entering the
lunch break 8 ticks above settlement levels.
- Shorter yields are mixed in cash trading, with the longer end holding to a
tight range, unchanged to a touch richer.
- The latest round of BoJ Rinban ops covering 1-3, 5-10 & 25+ Year JGBs saw
little change in the metrics for the 1-3 & 25+ Year buckets when compared to the
prev. ops, while the 5-10 Year bucket saw a lower offer/cover and tighter
spreads
