EU: After UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab signed the final 'instrument of
ratification' of the Brexit withdrawal agreement papers last night, and their
delivery to the European Council by Permanent Representative to the EU Sir Tim
Barrow earlier this morning, the European Parliament is set to engage in the
last legislative act of the UK's withdrawal from the EU (notwithstanding future
trade deals) today.
- MEPs will meet for a special plenary session of the parliament at 1500CET
(1400GMT, 0900ET), with the vote on the ratification of the withdrawal agreement
expected around 1800CET (1700GMT, 1200ET).
- The vote is largely a formality, with no expectations that MEPs will reject
the agreement given that it already has the approval of the UK gov't and the
European Council and Commission.
