Alberta’s Wildfires Still Threaten 389k b/d of Oil Production: Bloomberg

Alberta’s out-of-control wildfires greater than 10 hectares in size are now within 10km of around 389k b/d of oil production and 19.4 boe/d of gas output, Bloomberg said, citing government data.

  • Greenfire has temporarily curtailed production at its Hangingstone site.
  • Altair said that it shut its Charlie oil and gas site due to the approaching fires.
  • Suncor cut production earlier in July at its Firebag site, while Canlin said that it has restricted some production.
  • MEG energy, Imperial Oil, and Cenovus have evacuated some workers from oil sands sites, Bloomberg said.
