Alpine Hydrological Balance Slid Further Into Deficit

The Alpine hydrological balance for Switzerland, France, Germany and Austria slid further into a deficit to -3.9TWh, compared with the five-year average of – 2.31TWh, that is expected to persist for a week before improving according to Bloomberg.

  • French hydro stocks fell by almost 3 percentage points last week to 73% of capacity, still the highest for this time of the year since 2020 and above the five-year average.
  • Swiss reserves dipped to 84.7% of capacity, below the five-year and long-term averaged.
  • In the Nordic region, reservoir levels improved to 85.8% full, higher than the long-term average for the time of year.
