Approved Vaccine List Expands Further

HUNGARY

Hungary yesterday approved a second Chinese-produced coronavirus vaccine in addition to the Covishield jab - the Indian-manufactured version of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

  • The move comes amid an acceleration in coroanvirus infection rates across continental Europe and a renewed tightening of social restrictions.
  • Hungary has now approved eight vaccines, double the number of the EU. Comparative success in procurement has underpinned the success of the national vaccine rollout programme with a first dose now administered to over 20% of the population, while the EU lags at 13%.
