US DATA: April ISM Manufacturing Preview - 10:00 EDT/15:00 BST
- The manufacturing ISM index is expected to dip to 55.0 based on the Bloomberg
consensus, but hold steady at 55.3 based on an MNI survey of analysts. This
follows a rise to that level in March.
- An MNI preview on Wednesday suggested significant downside risk to the
release. Regional data already released, including the MNI Chicago report, were
generally down from the previous month.
- Also, there is a tendency by analysts to overestimate April ISM, having missed
to the high side in each of the last four years.
