April Tax Collection Figures, Bolsonaro To Meet Biden At Summit

  • Tax collection is expected to reach 194.5b reais in April, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey, after totalling about 164.1b reais in the previous month. Economy Ministry releases numbers at 1430BST/0930ET on its website and hosts a press conference at 11am.
  • Brazil’s lower house overwhelmingly passed a bill on Wednesday that determines a cap between 17% and 18% for state-level ICMS tax on fuel, natural gas, electricity, communications and public transport as it labels them as essential goods and services.

  • President Bolsonaro accepted Joe Biden’s invitation to a bilateral meeting during the Summit of the Americas, to be held in early June, local newspaper O Globo reported.
    • The two leaders will hold a bilateral meeting to re-establish their relationship, Bolsonaro told the TV network in remarks reported on its website late Wednesday.
  • Petrobras’ board determined that Caio Paes de Andrade’ nomination as CEO will be submitted to internal governance processes and will await the company’s People Committee evaluation, the company says in a securities filing.
