ASEAN+3 Fin Mins Meet On 2 May

Finance ministers and central bank governors from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China, Japan, and South Korea meet in Incheon, South Korea on Tuesday 2 May in the ASEAN+3 format. The ministers are set to discuss safeguarding against financial market instability and the impact of potential recession in G10 economies on the region, according to Reuters.

  • Speaking to reporters on 28 April, Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki stated that 'We are not facing a financial crisis', but added that it is 'important to always think about worst case in devising [a] regional safety net.'
  • The ASEAN+3 meeting takes place on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank.
