Asia Drives Weekly Rise in Jet Fuel Demand: BNEF

JET FUEL

Global implied jet fuel demand is set to rise by 0.9% on the week to 6.1m b/d in the week to Feb. 12, according to BNEF.

  • Asia is the lead driver of growth, with a rise on 2% on the week. Asia’s growth is offsetting falls in North and South America, and Europe.
  • Domestic flights in China are set for a rise on 4% in the next four weeks, based on current schedules. However, these are subject to last minute changes.
  • The Chinese New Year holiday from Feb. 10-17 is expected to bring a 10% rise in the number of trips compared to 2019 levels.
