AUSSIE: AUD/USD managed to add 15 pips or so Tuesday, as the rate largely
tracked broader risk appetite in NY hours. Small relief bid noted in early
Asia-Pac trade on news that Huawei CFO's request for bail was granted by
Canadian courts. Rate last $0.7211, 5 pips higher on the day.
- Bears continue to challenge the 50-DMA, coming in at $0.7187 today. Recovery
efforts have remained shallow thus far. A clean break below the 50-DMA would
target cloud base support at $0.7140. Bulls need a close above the 100-DMA at
$0.7230 to build on recent momentum.
- Little in the way of tier one AU risk events noted in the remainder of the
week, the RBA's Dec meeting minutes due next Tuesday, ahead of next Thursday's
AU labour market report.
