August Retail Sales, Ibovespa Options Expiration

  • Retail sales are expected to have declined by 0.7% in August on a monthly basis, according to the median of estimate in the Bloomberg survey. The data might play second fiddle to economic activity data which is scheduled on Friday. Today’s data is expected at 1300BST/0800ET:
    • Aug. Retail Sales M/m, est. -0.7%, prior 0.7%
    • Aug. Retail Sales YoY, est. 1.2%, prior 2.4%
    • Aug. Retail Sales Broad M/m, est. -0.7%, prior -0.3%
    • Aug. Retail Sales Broad YoY, est. 4.7%, prior 6.6%
  • Markets will be monitoring any headlines emanating from finance minister Haddad, who is granting an interview to Reuters at 4pm Brasilia time. Additionally, Ibovespa options expire at B3 stock exchange today.
