AUSSIE SUMMARY
AUSSIE SUMMARY: Aussie-dollar: Oct20 close $0.7813, Oct23 Asia range $0.7802-28,
Europe $0.7809-35
*US Dollar strength, led by Dollar-yen was the main theme in early Asia, the
Aussie moved lower from around $0.7823 to $0.7802
*Corporate demand ahead of $0.7800 cushioned, slightly weaker US TSY yields and
firmer commodities then aided the recovery to the $0.7823/28 area
*The dollar encountered fresh supply into Europe, aussie squeezed to $0.7835 but
with lack of follow through was quick to pare gains
*Pullback off the high with added weight from aud/jpy pressed to $0.7818, a
period of consolidation followed before persistent eur-usd sales saw the aussie
drift further to $0.7809
*Focus this week will be on Wednesday's Australia CPI read where early
indications suggest higher retail electricity and gas prices could see the
number come in slightly above the median (2.0% y/y) at 2.1%. Aussie last
$0.7812.
