Average Gross Wages Rise 14% Y/Y in September

  • Hungary’s average gross wages rose 14.0% y/y (Est: +14.5%) in September versus +15.3% in August. Real wages increased by 1.7%, calculating with September CPI of 12.2%.
  • Hungarian households saved 13.4% of their disposable income last year, over the 12.7% average savings rate for the European Union as a whole, data released by Eurostat show.
  • Prime Minister Orban congratulated Geert Wilders, the leader of the Dutch PVV party, on winning the snap election late on Wednesday, the PM's press chief said. Orban told Wilder over the phone that it had been important for him to be among the first to congratulate him.
  • There are no data releases on the docket for the remainder of the day, and no speaker events scheduled either. Unemployment rate data will cross tomorrow (Est: +3.9%; Prior: +3.9%).
