President Joe Biden's approval rating remains close to year-lows as Republican presidential candidates gather in Wisconsin to participate in the first GOP presidential debate, much of which is expected to focus of Biden's handling of the economy and inflation.
- According to FiveThirtyEight, Biden aggregated approval rating currently sits at 41.2%
- Surveys suggest that voters consistently rate Biden poorly on the economy and remain generally resistant to White House claims that the US economy has proved more resilient that compared developed economies in Europe and Asia.
- Bloomberg reported this week: "Polls show Biden’s handling of the economy dragging down his approval rating, even as indicators suggest inflation is moderating and an election-year recession less likely."
