Biden's Approval Rating Above 40% For First Time Since October

US

President Biden’s approval rating is above 40% for the first time since October, according to the FiveThirtyEight polling average. The 538 benchmark tracks with recent sentiment on betting and prediction markets in the past few weeks.

  • PredictIt now sees Trump and Biden tied on who will win the presidential election for the first time since early February.
  • Biden’s recent bump could be due to a perceived strong performance at his State of the Union Address which dispelled some doubts around his mental competence.
  • It could also reflect greater uncertainty over Trump’s campaign finances which have been severely hit by legal fees. Trump’s personally wealth may also be in doubt with the former president struggling to secure a bond on USD$454 million judgement in New York, raising questions over his ability to sustain the political network required for a presidential campaign.
